Besides his good lucks, and his adorable smile, there is his personality, and right behind that comes his humble persona, and certainly his sultry lyrics...Okay, so obviously the list can go on forever, but you get the point.
In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, singer Romeo Santos explains how proud he was to be on a short list of Latinos who were chosen to headline a show at Yankee Stadium.
“I felt proud, representing Latinos those two nights,” the Dominican 33-year-old artist said after performing two sold-out shows at his hometown's baseball stadium. “I felt the spokesperson, the superhero of a community, of a culture and of a genre called Bachata.”
When asked about the contrast between his charming singing voice and his deep, hoarse speaking voice, the singer commented how in fact he actually does not like his voice.
“I don’t enjoy hearing myself talk... I don’t like my voice, and I don’t enjoy my singing voice," said the Bronx native. "I do what I do to bring pleasure and diversion to the fans. It is something that people have mentioned to me, and I think that the difference between [when I’m] singing and talking is because when I sing, I try to sing with a feeling that I don’t have when I’m talking, because I sound very hoarse. [Singing is] very organic to me.”
Of course we can’t say we agree with him.
After the "Odio" singer was able to hold two sold-out shows in the massive Yankee Stadium this summer, it’s surprising to hear the singer say this.
Not to mention his album, "Formula Vol. 2," has been topping the Billboard charts as number one for the 24th consecutive week now. I think it's safe to say that no one agrees with him.
