ABC's popular day-time talk show, "The View," was created so that a small group of diverse women could share their opinions openly. For the first time in its 17 years on air, it has finally cast a Latina!
According to MailOnline, October Gonzalez will join the new political commentator Nicolle Wallace, and veterans Whoopi Goldberg, and Rosie O'Donnell, in September.
Gonzalez, a former bartender, is married to retired Atlanta Falcons footballer, Tony. They share two children together and are perhaps best known for posing naked for a PETA campaign to discourage people from wearing fur.
Political analyst Ana Navarro and Good Day LA co-host Lauren Sanchez were also among the try-outs, but Gonzalez was the standout, a source told MailOnline.
She "didn't audition. She was herself. She was the real deal."
And her real self is apparently funny.
According to MamasLatinas, she has said, "I'm a good impersonator--I'm a total a goofball...My dream job would be a sketch comedy artist on 'Saturday Night Live.'"
